Shakespeare: a celebration, directed by Ian Appleby, will be performed Monday 18th – Saturday 23rd April 2022 7.30pm.
* An anthology of scenes, speeches, songs, sonnets and spoofs. There are some super lines like
Helena “O, when she’s angry, she is keen and shrewd. She was a vixen when she went to school. Though she be but little, she is fierce.”
Hermia “And are you grown so high in his esteem because I am so dwarfish and so low? How low am I, thou painted maypole? Speak.”
* We’ll look at love in Shakespeare, violence in Shakespeare, Shakespearian comedy and more.
* A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Twelfth Night, Romeo and Juliet and Titus Andronicus will be among the plays featured.
The production will take the form of rehearsed readings as in the ‘Snapshots’ performances.
Are you interested in getting involved in this production, either onstage or off? Then come along to the production launch to meet the director. There you can see and explore the variety of material we might use in the show. The final programme will depend upon the number and nature of those who would like to join the cast but it promises to be good fun. For people interested in acting, the auditions will be the following Monday.
